Editing 2

Hello blog! This post will briefly overview some of the process and decisions made when continuing to edit our video.

For this second round of editing, we decided to change quite a few things around. For the font of the title sequence, we decided to use Brown Volky which feels more formal and intimidating. It is also a bit more simplistic than our previous option, which I think adds to the dramatization of horror elements. For the credits, we used Arno Pro, which is also pretty simple and purposefully draws little attention. There were no visual effects used outside of the occasional cut to a zoomed shot. Majority of the transitions from shot to shot are straight cuts, however, there are portions of the film in which the film straight cuts to a black screen, which is used to show a break in time. Additionally, we are still working out which music we would like to add in the background for  dramatic effect. One of the largest issues we faced while editing was getting clear dialogue and hearing exactly what the characters are saying. This was primarily due to outside sounds interfering with the microphones. To solve this, we decided to re-shoot some scenes and use sound enhancing video software that can isolate the sounds we need. This round of editing took about 2 hours. With that said, I believe we have to continue to spend another couple of hours editing and re-shooting to ensure that the scenes are dynamic and cohesive. Thus far, two of the four members in my group have been the primary editors. This includes Maya M. and myself. Together, we have worked on going through the raw footage, pulling out clips that we believe are best, and piecing everything together. For the additional filming that we would like to complete, we want to re-shoot the beginning scene of the students discussing their grades and their motives for breaking into school. When re-shooting, we want to get a wider variety of camera angles and ensure that the sound quality is better.
