Editing 2

Image
Hello blog! This post will briefly overview some of the process and decisions made when continuing to edit our video. For this second round of editing, we decided to change quite a few things around. For the font of the title sequence, we decided to use Brown Volky which feels more formal and intimidating. It is also a bit more simplistic than our previous option, which I think adds to the dramatization of horror elements. For the credits, we used Arno Pro, which is also pretty simple and purposefully draws little attention. There were no visual effects used outside of the occasional cut to a zoomed shot. Majority of the transitions from shot to shot are straight cuts, however, there are portions of the film in which the film straight cuts to a black screen, which is used to show a break in time. Additionally, we are still working out which music we would like to add in the background for  dramatic effect. One of the largest issues we faced while editing was getting clear dialogue ...

Editing 1

Hey blog! As far as the editing my group and I brainstormed together for what edits to do, while Maya and I did most of the actual editing For the title we chose to use Frost Scream because of its creepy and horror like implications. For the title, we wanted to make sure that it was front and center as it would hint toward what the film was about. Because of this through, we waited until the end of the clip to include the title. For the video effects of the monster, we used a black and white filter to indicate the monsters view. While the view of the students were in color. We mostly used straight cuts for the transitions. For the title page, we used a fade in black transition to introduce it. For the audio effects, we prerecorded a lot of the sounds and adjusted the decibel level to accommodate for the different sound levels. Most of the audio from the main characters are from the original filming process, but the non-digetic sounds were added in after. Because none of us ar...

Filming Process

Image
Hello Blog, this post will be covering my group's process in filming. Planning: All the way up until last week my group was planning for our film location and time. We finally settled with our ideas around Monday and planned to film on Tuesday. Filming: We decided to actually get our filming done on Tuesday 2/11. We chose multiple locations for our different scenes which capture some teens "breaking into a school".  This picture shows one of my group members capturing a shot of the very beginning our our film introduction where I can be seen messing with the computer, emulating a teen checking their grades for the purpose of our plot, this is the motivation for the teens to break into school as they want to change their grades. This image captures my classmate and I filming a POV shot inside of a creepy corridor inside the school. We choose this setting in order to add a dark element to the film  and go along with our idea of a thriller type movie. The above two images c...

Challenges in Film

Hey blog!! Today I'm going over some of the challenges and obstacles my group and I have had in the filming process.  The main issue that we ran into was starting the process of filming. There were complications with picking dates and actually finding time to film, especially since we were doing it at school and could only use very specific days. Also, agreeing on roles and costumes proved a bit challenging as we all had slightly different interpretations of what we were doing for our film and how we wanted it to turn out. For example, initially we had debate on who would play the antagonist and protagonists. Another issue we ran into for a short while was our setting. We weren’t sure initially where and when we would film in order to achieve our vision, however after speaking with a teacher we figured out a solution. We aren’t done filming yet so im sure we will run into some more problems but, things will certainly work out smoothly in the end.
