Comments on my classmates videos

Hi blog!! Today I'm giving some comments on my classmates camera shots and angles videos. The classmates who's videos i will be giving an overview and feedback on are Dunia Castro and Maya Miller.

Maya's shots:

  • Extreme Close-up: This shot shows a up close look at a person as the camera gradually zooms out. This shot helps us to get a personal look at the subject and evokes a sense of friendliness.
  • Dutch Angle Shot: This shot shows our subject in distress perhaps from a tragic event or some other emotional pain. The Dutch angle of the camera as it pushes into the subject helps to intensify the feeling of distress within the moment.
  • Low angle shot: This shot shows our subject showing off their outfit and turning away from the camera. The significance of the low angle in this shot is that it allows us the audience to feel the subjects confidence during the shot.

Dunia's shots:
  • Low angle shot: This shot shows our subject from a mid-long range shot in a heroic pose. The low angle in this shot adds to the comedy of the shot as the subject doesn't exactly look very heroic but more like they're trying to be funny. This effect in further enhanced due to the camera being at a slightly unconventional position for a low angle shot as it seems a bit too far away which is funny.
  • High angle shot: This shot shows our subject in distress as they sit on the ground covering their eyes. The high angle of this shot provides the audience with a degree of pity or empathy for the subject similar to how we would feel for a child who has fallen into tears right in front of us.
  • Dutch angle shot: This shot shows a statue with two characters deeply investigating into it. The Dutch angle of this shot helps provide the subject(the statue) with an enhanced sense of mystery and intrigue. As the audience we will be drawn towards the object and attempt to anticipate what it will lead to.
